A-Z of wedding photography Provence: Eze, earrings, emergency kit, English Rose Cocktail

Our fun guide continues with a letter E. We’ll climb to a stunning spot at the top of the hill to show you best spots for wedding photography in Eze. I will share some beautiful images from Eze Exotic Garden and two of Eze prestigious hotels: Chateau Eza and Chateau de la Chèvre d’Or. I will also touch upon the importance of the Emergency kit and a recipe for one very cool Gin cocktail.

Don’t forget, you can add your suggestions and ideas to this guide as we are going along. Feel free to GET IN TOUCH.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY EZE

Medieval village of Eze (as in Fez, not mezze) is perched high on the hill above French Riviera. Unless you are looking for an enduring 3 km walk along the goats paths, make sure you drive right up to Eze and not to Eze-sur-Mer.

Eze is probably the most beautiful of a distinctive group of ‘villages-perchés’. As all those medieval villages, the views are quite spectacular – over the sea and lower hills. But Eze is quite special. Many art galleries, restaurants and cafes have occupied the pedestrianised cobbled streets of this picturesque hilly village. Having left the car outside the village walls, you will walk to the top through 14th century gates, past most luxurious hotels and most democratic pizza houses. You will pause for a view by the Eze Church. Despite it’s rather plain ochre walls, the interior is an impressive Baroque. Your wedding photography Provence Eze dreams would be definitely satisfied, if you choose this church for your religious celebration!

At the very top of the village, in the ruins of a medieval castle lies a superb sub-tropical Exotic Garden. This is the place not to be missed, especially if you walked all the way to the top of Eze. Best 6 euros you will spend in this exclusive location!!

Two of the most luxurious small Chateaux have occupied the hilly sides of Eze. Both Chateau Eza and Chateau de la Chèvre d’Or offer outstanding French Riviera experience and compete with each other furiously!

I have written a longer piece about the beautiful Eze for French Wedding Style blog. You can find it HERE.

Emergency Kit

It’s tricky enough to be getting ready for your wedding ceremony away from your home. And even with the most talented make-up artists and hairdressers, you are likely to bring a suitcase full of “useful stuff” for your destination wedding. Make sure that you think in advance who will be in charge of your emergency kit for common wedding day mishaps. Some of the must-haves should include: a suitable colour and a clear nail polish, tissues or/and handkerchiefs, a small sawing kit, superglue, deodorant, a stain remover pen and breath mints. Separately, it will be wise to have make-up touch up bits and pieces – ask your make up artist about this in advance.

Earrings

Wedding jewellery is an extremely important and potentially tricky part of your wedding vision. It has to be in tune with your wedding dress and your hair. Plans can be changed in the last minute because of an unexpected gift from your groom or a generous relative. I’ve seen a countless number of brides leaving the decision of her wedding jewellery until the last minute.

Admittedly, this was a best man, but I thought his spectacular earrings matched his style perfectly and he definitely deserves to be in this wedding gallery!

English Rose Cocktail

Gin cocktails are so very popular in the UK now. This one is a particularly interesting example because it combines both sweet and sour tones. Choose your Gin carefully, the word is Tanqueray No. Ten or Hendricks are a good choice because they are not particularly dry.

To make at home:

2 oz gin

1 oz dry vermouth

1 oz apricot brandy

⅜ oz lemon juice

¼ oz grenadine

maraschino cherry for garnish

Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with some ice. Best served in a chilled martini glass rimmed with sugar (golden coarse crystals are the best!).
